Healthy relations and trust are the two most vital things in a startup or in a developing firm. Without those two, the company will most probably, be out of business. The firm won’t be prosperous when people don’t trust each other or don’t like each other at all.
Relationships can positively or negatively affect people’s satisfaction with job, their ability to advance and gain recognition. When they build positive relationships, they feel more comfortable and less intimidated by other co-workers. Creating bonds also creates trust. Building positive relationships often provides increased resources to help people get their job done and to be more efficient. You, as an employer, will enjoy greater satisfaction with your employees and so will those who work in your company.
Many people think that they already know how to be social and outgoing. This kind of thinking is wrong. Everyone can improve their skills in area of social interactions. Building healthy relationships is not easy and you should not forget how important it is. In a growing company, the new faces are taken for granted. So much people is flooding the workspace that you could get tired of getting to know every each one of the newcomers. In such environment, it is harder to build community based on teamwork and trust but it is not impossible!
Look below at some guidelines for building company based on trust and healthy relations:
People should share more of themselves at meetings. Letting other know who you are is the best way to build healthy relationships. By sharing your scope of expertise, knowledge and personality, people would like you to get to know you or hear more from you. Being approachable gives the chance of building trust. If you fear to share more about you, be prepared that you appear as an uptight person.
Also, speaking positively abut people you work with provides a great feedback about who you are. Hearing something supportive and positive said about you will help you build an image of trustable person. However, stay away from gossiping. It is always connected with negative reception.
Every employer and employee should follow this mantra: You achieve the best results when people work together on a common goal. These simple words are a true workplace wisdom. Bing creative and hardworking doesn’t work when you are selfish. Nowadays people became very self-centered. They are scared of sharing their knowledge or experience with other in case someone would like to plunge them. Here is the place where the boss should step in and let every worker know that working together is more valued than working alone. Sharing victory and loses are also the part of true bonding.
Organizing meetings, employee team-building workshops and trips would increase the intimacy between co-workers. Also, social events like lunches, retreats, conferences and holiday parties are great places to interact in an informal setting. People from different teams and branches of the company are having the opportunity to interact with each other and then, be more friendly and helpful to each other at work. Maybe this example will seem incompetent, but after a boozy evening with the people from your company, you will think of your co-workers, employees or bosses as more humane and down-to-earth. Those actions will improve trust and relations by giving people the chance to talk, exchange opinions and experiences.
Another matter worth mentioning is actual fitting in. Whether you are an employee or an employer, you should think what type of people work in this/ your company. If you are a boss, select your candidates very carefully. If you are a future employee, read some opinions on blogs and forums about the given company and its atmosphere.
Encourage people to support each other’s work. Team attitude gives a big competitive advantage. People should want to get involved with each other. Working directly with someone and helping them achieving goals will form a closer connection. Do not be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. This action will prove that you value someone’s opinion. People will start appreciating you and each other more which will definitely improve working conditions and results in the company.
The last thing which is vital in creating trust and healthy bonds in the company is the workspace. When people are divided into small rooms or shut off from each other by big walls, the emerging of “inside groups” is natural. The open-space concept of the office is the best if you want to get rid of any divisions in the workplace. People stop hiding behind closed doors and their closest colleagues and start cooperating with each other. Creating bonds and trust is not an easy task to do but it’s definitely worth the effort In the end, the people create the company, not the computers and machinery, and their well-being and good working relations should be valued the most.
